Juhu! I got a 60-key piano-type accordion!
Fingering
[1]:
This is about the left hand:
- Finger 1: Thumb
- Finger 2: Pointer finger
- Finger 3: Middle finger
- Finger 4: Ring finger
- Finger 5: Pinky.
Even the pinky is sometimes used in playing [2]
It's probably best to start with the 4/3 method, and later also learn the 3/2 method, if needed.
3/2 method
The 3/2 method:
- Use your middle finger for the bass rows
- Use your pointer finger for the chord rows.
Pro:
- It's intuitive, and self-taught accordionists usuall adopt this system
- It goes well together with using the pinky for large spreads, in some advanced pieces
Con:
- You would have to use your middle finger for both the bass button and the alternating bass button, and that's limiting: Slow and error-prone
4/3 method
The 4/3 method [3]:
- Ringer finger (4) on the bass
- Middle finger (3) on the chords
- Pointer finger (2) on the alternate bass.
Pro:
- More comfortable for your wrist - The angle is more natural
- Faster and more control.
Con:
- Initially harder to learn.
